eduSeed Zoom Integration Guide
This guide explains how administrators and instructors can add, use, and remove the eduSeed Zoom integration.
This guide is intended for the eduSeed Zoom integration that retrieves Zoom cloud recording transcripts and generates draft class summaries for review inside eduSeed.
1. What the Integration Does
The eduSeed Zoom integration allows authorized users to:
- connect a Zoom account to eduSeed using Zoom OAuth;
- receive recording-related Zoom webhook events;
- retrieve Zoom cloud recording transcript files where available; and
- generate draft class summaries for instructor or administrator review.
In the current version, summaries are not automatically sent to parents. Summaries must be reviewed and approved inside eduSeed.
2. Who Can Connect the App
- Administrators can connect shared Zoom accounts used across eduSeed workflows.
- Instructors can connect their own eligible Zoom accounts from their eduSeed login.
- Each Zoom account must authorize the integration individually through the Zoom authorization screen.
3. How to Add and Connect the App
For administrators
- Sign in to eduSeed with an administrator account.
- Open the Zoom management area in eduSeed.
- Choose the option to connect a Zoom account.
- When redirected to Zoom, sign in to the Zoom account to be connected.
- Review the requested permissions and approve the connection.
- After authorization, Zoom redirects back to eduSeed and the connection is stored.
For instructors
- Sign in to eduSeed with your instructor account.
- Open the class summaries area in eduSeed.
- Choose the option to connect your Zoom account.
- When redirected to Zoom, sign in to the Zoom account you use for classes.
- Review the requested permissions and approve the connection.
- After authorization, Zoom redirects back to eduSeed and your connection is stored.
4. How the Integration Is Used
- A connected Zoom account is used to host a class.
- Zoom stores the recording in the cloud and generates a transcript when available.
- Zoom sends a recording-related webhook event to eduSeed.
- eduSeed validates the webhook request and identifies the relevant Zoom connection.
- eduSeed retrieves the transcript and related recording metadata from Zoom.
- eduSeed generates a draft class summary for review inside the platform.
5. How to Review and Approve Summaries
- Instructors can review their own draft class summaries in eduSeed.
- Administrators can view all draft class summaries in eduSeed.
- Draft summaries can be edited before approval.
- Only approved summaries should be relied upon for operational use.
6. How to Disconnect or Remove the App
Disconnecting from eduSeed
- Sign in to eduSeed.
- Open the Zoom connection management area.
- Find the connected Zoom account.
- Choose the disconnect option and confirm the action.
Disconnecting removes the active connection from eduSeed and prevents future use of that Zoom connection until it is reauthorized.
Removing the app from Zoom
- Sign in to your Zoom account.
- Open your Zoom Marketplace installed apps or connected apps area.
- Locate the eduSeed Zoom integration.
- Remove or uninstall the app from your Zoom account if desired.
7. Troubleshooting
- If authorization fails, retry the connection flow and confirm you are signing in with the correct Zoom account.
- If a transcript-based summary does not appear, confirm the meeting was cloud recorded and that a transcript was generated by Zoom.
- If a connection is revoked, it must be reauthorized before eduSeed can continue using it.
